Job Description:The Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship at Emory University is an ACGME-accredited fellowship. This fellowship provides training for the care of infants, children, and young adults with congenital and acquired heart disease undergoing both cardiac and non-cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology lab procedures, and other diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Our cardiac center is very busy and provides numerous educational opportunities for fellows interested in pursuing a career in pediatric cardiac anesthesiology. All cases will be performed at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Arthur M. Blank Hospital, which is a brand-new hospital opening September 29, 2024. Annually, we provide anesthetic care for approximately 550 cardiac cases on cardiopulmonary bypass, 150 cardiac surgical cases without CPB, 1000 Cardiac Cath Lab and EP procedures, and 250 cases for cardiac imaging. The fellowship is 12 months in duration. The fellowship is divided into the following rotations: 9 months Cardiac OR/Cath Lab, 1 month in the Cardiac ICU, and 2 months of elective rotations - including Research, Echocardiography, and Perfusion. Fellows who have completed an Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship may require an elective rotation with the General Pediatric Anesthesiology Service.
