Job Requirements:Nationwide Children's Hospital is a free-standing 508-bed pediatric tertiary-care academic center. Residing in the heart of Columbus, over 38,000 anesthetics were performed at Nationwide Childrens in 2017. Approximately 150 to 200 regional anesthetics are performed monthly.

A successful candidate will have completed an ACGME/AOA accredited anesthesiology residency and pediatric anesthesiology fellowship or be currently training in a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship. The candidate must also be able to apply for and obtain an Ohio State Medical training license. Job Description:Fellows will complete a formal 6 (or 12) month fellowship in pediatric regional anesthesia and acute pain management at Nationwide Children's Main Campus and Surgery center. Training will focus on perioperative and acute pain management through the use of peripheral nerve injections/catheters, neuraxial techniques, and multimodal pharmacologic treatment. The fellow will perform peripheral nerve blocks of the upper extremity (e.g. interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular), lower extremity (e.g. femoral, adductor canal, sciatic, lumbar plexus, suprainguinal fascia iliaca), and trunk (e.g. TAP, quadratus lumborum, erector spinae). In select patients, peripheral nerve catheters will be inserted and managed on an inpatient or outpatient basis. Continuous epidural infusions will be initiated and managed in patients of all ages at the caudal, lumbar, and thoracic sites. Spinal anesthesia and combined spinal/caudal anesthesia will be performed as alternatives to general anesthesia. Fellows will also become adept at managing opioid delivery systems in neonates, children, and adolescents. In addition, the fellow will utilize a variety of analgesic agents, including but not limited to, NMDA receptor antagonists, lidocaine infusions, anti-epileptics, non-steroidals, wound catheters, and transdermal drug delivery systems.
