Meeting Reviews and New Initiatives

Welcome to the post SPA-AAP meeting edition of the newsletter. I hope Houston is not too distant a memory and that those who attended are back at work and implementing things you learned. There were so many stand out sessions that I don’t dare identify any in particular. This newsletter contains reviews of most sessions which I hope everyone finds useful. Also, note that attendees can purchase videos of all presentations at https://www2.pedsanesthesia.org/meetings/2019winter/guide/reg/index.iphtml
The meeting saw the launch of the SPA Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The chair of this committee is Nathalia Jimenez, MD, MPH (Seattle Children’s) and I’m excited to have her share what Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is, why this committee is important and invite you to participate in this open committee.
Another exciting initiative that has been very successful so far is WELI, under the leadership of Jennifer Lee, MD; Jamie Schwartz, MD and SPA President-Elect Nina Deutsch, MD. Read about this initiative and contact Dr. Lee, Dr. Schwartz or Dr. Deutsch if you are interested in participating as a coach or having your institution join.

Thanks for being active in the Society and have a wonderful summer!
