Pediatric Anesthesiology 2012

From the Editor

Our goal: Keeping SPA members informed

Greetings to all of our SPA members.  This has been such a busy year.  In the last edition of the SPA newsletter, the announcement was made that as a specialty, we received our own subspecialty certification.

In this edition, we get an update on the results of our very first match process that was put into place for our fellowship positions.  The recognition for pediatric anesthesia overall has never been better.  I hope that the members of the SPA have been able to stay up to date with these changes through our website and newsletter, and I welcome any information that others feel is vital to pass on to SPA members.

The reviews of our last meeting are included in this edition as well as articles of interest.  I encourage our membership to read about the trials and tribulations after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and to reach out to our colleagues by taking advantage of the provided websites for contributions during that country’s time of need.

I also want to pass on the success of the website and how it is being used more frequently and for a variety of purposes.  My own personal experience when advertising for a position in my practice was a testament to this.  Despite months of advertising in journals and at meetings, our number of applicants increased exponentially through our listing on the SPA website.

The website has something to offer to all members.  Take a look and provide your feedback on how we can make it even better.

Our next Newsletter edition will be published following our 25th Anniversary Fall meeting prior to the ASA in Chicago…my kind of town.
